Branch Manager Levi Brown provided the club with a comprehensive update on the Vance Brand Airport, situated in Longmont. Named after former NASA astronaut Vance Brand, who hails from Longmont, this city-owned public-use airport is a notable fixture in Colorado's aviation landscape. With a single-runway concrete surface spanning 4,800 by 75 feet across its 261-acre footprint, it stands as a prominent hub for general aviation enthusiasts.

Visitors to the airport are treated to the serene spectacle of planes departing and arriving, complemented by seasonal on-site food trucks that add to the ambiance, particularly during the warmer months.

Levi highlighted the airport's significant role in flight training, along with the anticipated arrival of new environmentally friendly aircraft. "This marks a shift towards quieter and cleaner aviation," Levi noted, drawing attention to the ongoing transition from leaded to unleaded fuel, slated for completion by 2030.

Wrapping up his presentation, Levi extended a cordial invitation to all members to attend the upcoming Air Show scheduled for September 14th at the airport.
